Faith no More , Offspring, The Horrors , Billy Talent @ Rock en Seine August 29th 2009

Faith No More, Offspring, The Horrors, Billy Talent
@ Rock en Seine August 29th 2009

Once again the bill is not fantastic today , so we get there around 6 PM just in time to see Canadian power-pop band Billy Talent ( they call it punk in America ).
The singer is screaming so much that half of his body is completely red.
The music 's not fantastic but the show was entertaining.
We left after 40 min that was enough.

Some girls

The Horrors is the up and coming band , i've heard a lot about them but after seeing their pictures , I didn't really bother, Too bad for me.
They've done a great set ; very dark, very goth and very Joy division-ish.
Lots of kids in the audience , they love them , a very nice surprise for me.

The singer's funny and they're all looking very young.

Then we have the masters of the american punk rock scene ( we call it Power- Pop over here ) Offspring.

They sound very american which means that it's perfectly executed , almost like on cd. There's a aditional guitar player with them.
They've done all the hits with lots of AAaahh & OOooOhh to sing.
With Offspring you don't need to own any of their cd you know most of their songs , very pop and the sound is neat.

There are unprofessional bands ( Oasis ) and very professional ones , Offspring is one of them, for " Punk" they're too perfect.
Of course they had to make a couple of jokes on Oasis' split.
Great set anyway.

Faith no More, AAARRGGHH all my youth is coming back right in my face.
Lots of expectations for this come-back.
They started very slowly with a very cool song and then it was chaos.
They're all dressed nicely with costumes , 'Mad' Patton is acting like a maniac on acid , lots of screamings.

They've played songs from all their records including the early ones when Patton wasn't the singer and all the hits ( Epic... ) a couple of covers ( " I'm easy" , " Midnight cowboy" instrumental soundtrack ) alternating very heavy song with cool ones.

The audience was mad , the sound and lightning was perfect , great show.

We have a winner: Faith No More

Yeah Yeah Yeah + Others
@ Rock en Seine Parc de St Cloud August 28th 2009

First is the Yeah Yeah Yeah , The music is uninventive , the singer is doing the show , nice clothes honey , the kids like her and it was chaos down the pit for the heavier songs , good set.

Passion Pit was next for me , I saw them yesterday night at the Album de la semaine , the singer didn't know if he could make it as he has a sore throat. So it was nice to see them playing at the Rock en Seine. Nice set of electro-pop. So sad we had to leave before the end to go and see Madness

Madness did a great set with all the classics ( baggy trousers , Madness , our House , it must be love ... ) they opened with " one step beyond" to the delight of the massive crowd pogoing straight from the beginning of the set. They did a couple of new songs.
The show ended with " night boat to cairo "

Best gig of the day ! Madness !!!

Some girls ( right )

Nice legs... and boots ( left )

Vampire weekend played on the main stage and were complete crap , i really wonder how they could secure such a high place on the bill and on the main stage.
Their music is sooo boring.

Bloc Party did a good and a longer set as the singer announced on stage that Oasis had cancelled their appearance so they can play more songs .
I'm not too convinced with their dance songs but when they rock ... they rock.

Then we went to the main stage , a couple of friends told me that they made an announcement . Oasis was on sight , Liam and Noel fought in their dressing room so the show is cancelled , Oasis is no more and the rest of the tour is cancelled too.
What a bunch of fucking morons , no respect for their fans FUCK' EM.

The great news is that MADNESS is playing another gig , this time on the main stage .GREAT, they started later than Oasis should have.
They are playing a shorter set with all the classics , once again people are dancing to the music but many of them have already left the sight.
The guys are laughing at Liam and Noel a couple of times and thank the audience for welcoming them once again.
Another great show.

Second show, different clothes
" night boat to Cairo "

Perfect to have 2 shows by Madness in a couple of hours as I've never been a fan of the "moron brothers".

Madness & family

Passion Pit @ " L' Album de la Semaine" Paris August 27th 2009

Passion Pit @ L' album de la semaine
Canal + Paris August 27th 2009
Just back from holidays , I was barely at home for an hour that I decided to go and check the first band to play for the new season of the famous Canal+ tv show L' album de la semaine.
Passion Pit is a Pop-electro band from Boston , usually it's not my cup of tea , i'm more into guitars orientated band , but i have to say that this new band has talent.
They're not too electro and the singer has a very distinctive high voice that could make you think of the singer from Mercury Rev.
We had had a chat with him after the show and the guy is really nice.
Just hope that they will play tomorrow at the Rock en Seine as the singer is sick.

Here's the program for the Rock en Seine :
